Blu-ray, HD DVD players: clunky, unimpressive

Amid the glitz and ultra-cutting-edge high-tech gadgets spread over what seemed like the 30 or 40 square kilometres of the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, if you wanted to find a 1980s-era VCR, there were two places to look: The Blu-ray and HD DVD exhibits.

50-inch Pioneer plasma provides 1080p

1080p native resolution promises to deliver every detail of 1080i, the highest-resolution HDTV format, but until now it was only available in DLP and LCoS rear-projection HDTVs and flat-panel LCD HDTVs. Now 1080p is coming to plasma.
