Samsung D820 User reviews

By Emily Baxter, CNET.com.au on 15/06/2006

More Samsung reviews , RRP: AU$775.00

The good:

  • 1.3 megapixel camera
  • Voice recorder
  • Bluetooth connectivity
  • Up to 60 minutes of video recording

The bad:

  • Awkward slide design

The bottomline:

The Samsung SGH D820 is a good all-round quad-band phone with some great features including a 1.3-megapixel camera, decent quality voice recorder and an MP3/AAC/AAC+ music player. Largely it is easy to use without requiring in-depth study of its user guide but occasionally the design lets it down.

8.2/10

Sleek, capable phone let down by its battery

Pros: Slim and sleek design. Clear, bright screen with nice interface. Default speaker volume is loud enough. Has micro-SD slot to store data/music. Fairly easy to use. Video and photos not bad quality even though it's only 1.3MP. Can charge the phone battery using PC via USB cable. Fairly clear reception. Good USB and Bluetooth connection.

Cons: Pool battery life - and battery meter not accurate. Can be a little hard to sms with the one thumb. Slider, as reported, can be awkward. Can't paste numbers from sms to existing contacts. Contacts software a little too basic. Limited characters in contact fields (eg. Notes field). Phone vibration could be a little stronger. Limited call profiles (only normal or quiet mode). Only USB1.1 instead of 2.0.

Great looking and value packed slider!

Great phone! Buy it!

Pros: Good looks, features, value and it's a Samsung!

Cons: If I had to say one, it would be that the camera could be 2 megapixel...
