Samsung's slimmest clamshell yet.

The Korean giant redefines the word "slim" in mobile phones with a range of super-thin handsets that come under the company's new "Ultra Edition" label.

Among the trio will be what Samsung claims is the world's thinnest candy-bar phone at just 6.9mm.

Under the new naming convention, the thickness of the phone is indicated in the name. For example, the company's new 6.9mm-thin candy bar (previously known as the X820) is called the Ultra Edition 6.9. The Ultra Edition 9.9 refers to its 9.9mm-slim clamshell, known more commonly as the D830. The thickest of the threesome is the Ultra Edition 12.9 slide, which measures, well, just 12.9mm.

It's hard to knock a phone that has all the current popular technologies, but it would have still been great for Nokia to consider new technologies for this latest N-Series range, particularly a media sharing networking protocol.

Take out the Next G reception and you end up with a low quality handset at a mid-range price point. Still, it's great to see another blue tick phone for our friends in the bush to consider.
