Australian gamers will soon be able to test drive the new Xbox 360, with Microsoft distributing 1000 demo consoles to retailers across the nation in February.

While Microsoft hasn't finalised which stores will be receiving 360 demo units, it has confirmed which next-gen titles will be on show. Game titles for the demonstration units will include Project Gotham Racing 3, Kameo: Elements of Power, Peter Jackson's King Kong The Official Game of the Movie, and NBA Live 06. A large selection of video game trailers will also be shown on high definition Samsung plasma television screens.

Two versions of the console will be sold in Australia, which at this stage is set for a 2 March launch. The Xbox 360 Core System, which comes with a console, composite AV cable and wired controller, will retail for AU$499.95. The upgrade Xbox 360 bundle, which includes the console, 20GB hard drive, media remote, wireless controller, component cable and Ethernet cable, will retail for AU$649.95.
