Revheads stopping by Singapore in the next few months can have a go on the city-state's F1 night track ... virtually, that is. Last week, SingTel, the race's main sponsor, unveiled an interactive simulator and we were there.

No need to pay the congestion charge
Petrol heads heading to Singapore might like to know that SingTel has one simulator at its headquarters in Comcentre -- it's near the Somerset MRT station. A second one, which has yet to arrive, will travel around the island to spread the F1 fever.
It's free to take it for a spin but you can't just walk in and drop a token to drive one though. You first have to register and book a slot through the telco's F1 site. You also have only one lap to prove your worth, so don't go unprepared. We strongly advise anyone attempting to use the simulator to practice first on the PC version. It's a 222MB download but you'll have to do without the cool car, wheel, seatbelt, and sound effects. Make sure you memorise the track so as not to make a fool of yourself in a public place, crashing at every turn.
