It's small and it's light, and it's also the cheapest new model in Panasonic's camcorder class of 2008. It ships with 10x optical zoom and a 4GB SDHC card.

A standard-def miniDV camcorder featuring a 3CCD sensor array and optical image stabilisation.
The H40, the entry-level SD card/hard-disk hybrid standard-def camcorder from Panasonic, has a 40GB hard drive, optical image stabilisation and 42x zoom.
The middle kid in Panasonic's hybrid SD card/hard-disk standard-def camcorder range. Its standard inclusions are a 60GB hard-disk, 50x optical zoom lens and optical image stabilisation.
Another half year has passed, so another new SD card high-def camcorder from Panasonic is on the way. Yes there's 1080p recording at 25fps, but the really big news is that it's being shipped with a 32GB SDHC card as standard.
If you're not interested in being able to record HD footage, you'll find this standard definition camcorder a good bet.
The cool factor of waterproof gadgets is high, even when there's a subsequent trade-off in performance. Anyone going any deeper than snorkel depth will need to look elsewhere, but at least the price reflects the compromises made for that cheerily tough exterior.
The Sony Handycam DCR-SR45 has a good design and reasonable feature set for its price, but the video quality doesn't measure up to the rest of the package.
